ABSTRACT

Information Technology (IT) governance is been an important issue in organization due to compliance issues, such as sarbanes-oxley in us, basel ii in europe. Another reason of importance is the higher rate of it projects failure that profoundly affects the performance of the organizations in terms of commitment. This paper has investigated 72 Brazilian organizations to identify that “how it governance can play the vital role in organizational performance in terms of commitment?” The study is based on strategic alignment maturity (SAM) survey carried out with 72 Brazilian organizations, where we indentified that it governance is an important component in order to achieve organizational performance. Partial least square (pls 3.0 software) is used to analyze and validate two relationships: (a) between it governance and its elements and (b) between it governance and organizational performance. The aim of the paper is to identify what elements of it governance plays an important role in organization’s business performance and the impact of it governance itself on business performance.

ABSTRACT

Moodle is an Open Source e-learning platform used by a large and stable community of users and developers for web-based education. This paper analyzes the end users’ perceived quality of such a platform with an explorative study. The analysis is done by (PLS) regression, a second-generation causal modelling statistical technique. It is aimed at providing a model that describes end users’ perception of the platform described in terms of Usability, Functionality, Reliability, Efficiency, Quality in Use, Users Experience, and Usage Intensity. The investigation was carried out on a sample of students who used Moodle for 6 months. This study adopts an explorative perspective and aims to analyze the main factors that affect users’ perception of quality. The analysis reveals that end users are satisfied with the platform, but only Functionality and Quality in Use seem to positively affect the perceived quality.

ABSTRACT

Since knowledge was considered a primary resource for competitive development, knowledge creation has been a continuous concern for knowledge management activities. Current paper reveals the role of e-assessment services in knowledge creation, as well as the importance of the chain: knowledge economy-e-learning-e-assessment. The challenges of building efficient e-assessment services are also identified in SOSE bigger picture. For this purpose, a qualitative analysis on an e-assessment tool for project management knowledge was conducted and the results are presented. Methods for improving the service oriented e-assessment application for project management knowledge are proposed and the directions of e-assessment services development are indicated.

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the United Nations (UN) control system.  It mainly identifies the risk factors or “red flags” that might apply to a governmental or nonprofit organization.  The paper focuses more closely on the Oil-for-Food program as a case study of a UN program that experienced basic control problems, leading to a major fraud.  Based on this information an attempt is then made to assess the red flags and risk factors that can be identified and to determine whether, given the UN control system, a different and unique set of red flags might be needed for the UN and its multi-cultural setting.  The lessons learned may prove valuable to a wide array of governmental and nonprofit organizations.
